What to Shred
The Washington State Attorney General gives this guidance to shredding:
Destroy all sensitive information, including junk mail and paperwork that includes: account numbers, birth dates, passwords and PINs, signatures, and social security numbers. To protect your privacy, you should also consider shredding items that include: names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses. For a more detailed list, click here.
The Shred Stop crosscut shreds and renders useless all information on paper, compact discs, floppy disks, credit cards, receipts, cardboard, large-format pages; pretty much anything that isn't metal. The opening is 3/16" tall and 11" wide for paper or 5" wide for other material.

Protecting the Environment
At the Shred Stop, we are dedicated to minimizing our impact on the environment. To accomplish that goal, our equipment is designed to conserve power and we make every effort to recycle the waste produced at our locations. Unlike shredding at home, where the paper product can't be placed in residential recycling containers, the Shred Stop delivers shredded paper directly to recyclers that are able to take advantage of the re-usable fibers. When you shred at the Shred Stop you get the best of two worlds: an excellent service and a positive impact on the environment.
To ensure the paper products we collect can be recycled, we ask you to shred paper and plastic separately. If shredded together, a large amount of recyclable material could be contaminated with non-recyclable items. The separated feed chutes are clearly marked on the kiosk.
